I Love Conspiracies... They taste like candy!

Strange shapes light up the night
Never seen them though I hope I might
(Blue Öyster Cult. "Take Me Away." The Revölution By Night. Columbia, 1983)

I promised to have something today.

Update... and contest (of sorts)

Well, nothing I do don't seem to work
It only seems to make the matters worse.
(The  Rolling Stones. "19th Nervous Breakdown." single. Decca, 1966)

Got Something...

No spoilers!
Now's the time to have some big ideas
Now's the time to make some firm decisions
(Shriekback. "Gunning For The Buddha." Big Night Music. Island Records, 1986)

So last night I wanted to post something.  Today, while bored at work I came up with an idea.

...Got nothing...

Ima dare no tonari de egao misete iru no ka da nante
Nee dore hodo no jikan ga tatta ra kurushimi wa owaru no kana
(HAMASAKI Ayumi, "You were... ." Rock 'n' Roll Circus. Avex Trax, 2010)

Man, I really got nothin'.  I feel I should do an update, but...  Yeah.  I got... Nothing.

27 November 2010

The less you change, the less things stay the same.

Here's a song
About living in the past
If it was so good then
How come it didn't last?
(The Human League. "These Are the Days." Octopus. EastWest Records, 1995)

20 November 2010

Check out my new weapon, weapon of choice

Hey Joe, where you goin' with that gun in your hand?
(The Jimi Hendrix Experience. "Hey Joe." Are You Experienced. MCA, 1967)

Let's talk home protection.

Home at last

Lovely to know the warmth
You're smile can bring to me
I want to tell you but the words you do not know
(The Moody Blues. "Emily's Song." Every Good Boy Deserves Favour. Threshold Records, 1973)

I said there's be an update...

BUCK-TICK: RAZZLE DAZZLE

WELCOME yume no sekai e nazomeku FANTASY
Azayaka sa kugizuke sa magician Django
(BUCK-TICK. "Django!!! –Genwaku no Django—." Razzle Dazzle. Ariola Japan, 2010)

So, after staying up way late last Friday night/Saturday morning and sleeping until early afternoon, I found that I had received the new BUCK-TICK CD in the mail. Had forgotten I had ordered it, but then I did pre-order it back in July. At the time, CD Japan just had it down as UNTITLED. I didn't think much of it, as that could have been the name... Also, I believe the release date was not fixed and simply said "November".

The Wreck of the HMS Ophelia

Captain Robert searches
for a safe place to land
The ropes creaking, ship's leaking, sails are on fire,
and this whole bloody ship could go up like a pyre.
We've got smiles on our faces, but we've seen this before
No telling just now what we have in store.
(Abney Park. "Æther Shanties." Æther Shanties. Abney Park, 2010)

15 October 2010 brought us The End of Days.  This is, of course, Abney Park's latest album.  The release party was held in an IRC channel and, I believe, hit about 140 people at one point.  Music was provided by Dementia Radio, who, amongst their usual selections, played songs from the new album.  The big hit seems to have been Victorian Vigilante as both times it played, the IRC server throttled back the channel (thinking it was a DOS attack ore something) and Dementia Radio's Shoutcast server choked, killing the song half way through (The Captain assures us this does not happen on the CD).

More pictures!

Captain Robert took his crew
To Shangri-la and Timbuktu

Some went crazy, some got mad
Some he kicked off ship in Chad

(Abney Park "The Ballad of Captain Robert." Lost Horizons. Abney Park, 2008)

Ok, my friend Marie took loads of pictures at The Circus at the End of the World V. She's better at this than I am and has a MUCH better camera. You can find them here: CLICK!

**Edit** She took the picture used on this post.

The Circus at the End of the World V

Well here we come on the run
Our coal fires are burning
Here we come fife and drum
Propellers in the dawn

Here we come on the run
Our coal fires are burning
Here we come on the run
Under the radar we crept on

(Abney Park. "Under the Radar." Æther Shanties. Abney Park, 2010)

Went to see Abney Park last night at The Circus at the End of the World V (Berbati's).  A blast was had by all. Here's a live clip.  It's not from last night's show, but is what you can expect when you see them.

This show has made me decide I need two things: Something really cool to wear to Steam Punk events, and a digital camera better than the one on my phone.  Here's the best shot I was able to take with it.  Had I known it would have come out this good, I would have shot landscape...

You know, I could get a digital camera and put it into one of my old Kodak folders...  Hmmmm...

Boy Banzai and the Death Bunnies

When you rock 'n' roll with me
No one else I'd rather be
(BOWIE, David. "Rock 'n' Roll with Me", Diamond Dogs. RCA, 1974)

So it would seem, unless I'm being paranoid again (which is possible), someone is trying to get my attention.

For some reason, I took a goosie through classmates.com and found listed in the West Linn High School class of 1986 is one Boy Bonsai.  This is rather interesting as I had created a fictitious rock band called Boy Banzai and the Death Bunnies for creative writing in 12th grade.  Now, I could have created the account myself, I used to drink a lot, but I do actually know the difference between bonsai and banzai.  I even know they are pronounced differently.

Tho, I do chuckle when I picture John Lithgow yelling "I'll see you in Hell, Bonsai!" (best movie EVER!).

Of course, if there was anyone at WLHS that could be called Boy Banzai it would have been a friend of mine from the calss of '88.

I just wonder what would be next, an entry for Herr Fräulein?

Anyway, all for now.
Peace, Love and Brown Rice!

Life can be cruel

They're only buildings and houses
Why should I care?
(Japan. "Life in Tokyo." Single. Hansa, 1979)

I was listening to music at work today, and came across Japan's single of Life in Tokyo.  I'm rather annoyed by the fact that the only copy I have ever come across is the accidentally-mastered-in-mono version.  I set about to see if I could find any of the other mixes I'd heard about.  Instead, I found this: http://www.isatellite.info/lifeintokyo.html

This is a great remake, and a superb tribute to Japan and Giorgio Moroder.  Give it a listen, it won't disappoint.  I strongly recommend headphones!
