So, this is something I ran across a while back and, because I used BlogThis for the setup I promptly forgot it!
This is actually something that I had been pondering for a while now. You see, and if you've paid attention, I enjoy Japanese music, particularly Visual Kei (think of it as modern Kabuki!). My discovery of this art form is a long story. It stems from watching anime. Yep. I also have a decent manga collection. In fact, my book case is full of manga, translated Japanese light novel, sci-fi and fantasy novels, technical manuals, and the works of C. G. Jung.
Yep, I'm a nerd.
But I try not to inflict it on others. Other people aren't interested how tall YAGAMI Toll's Mohawk is, how BUCK-TICK's "21st Cherry Boy" sounds like and Placebo and David BOWIE's rendition of T. Rex's "20th Century Boy", how Allison And Lillia has finally been licensed and is due out this May (unless I'm fishing for birthday presents...), how the study of archetypes can more easily be applied to Star Wars than to Lord of the Rings, how it's ironic that there's a Pete TOWNSHEND signature series of Gibson guitars, even tho he now plays a modified Eric CLAPTON signature Fender Stratocaster, how Brian MAY is a GOD, or any other topic I am interested in but the listener most likely isn't.
So, would you please shut up about your favorite sports team? Seriously,. I don't care.
But, is there some common ground? I found this: A Nerd By Any Other Name, a rather interesting look at sports fans. I still may not want to talk about sports, but, then again, I at least know where you're coming from.
Oh, and if you're interested in how nerdy I am:
